Honey
Dear Foster Mom and Dad,
I am letting you know how well I am doing. Yesterday I learned to go up and down the steps on the deck with great confidence. I played very hard with my new friend Jr. When we came in the house, in the afternoon I could hardly keep my head up. So, I finally laid my head down and took a 20 minute nap. Later in the afternoon I met my new grandparents. Jr. and I had to show off our playing skills. I ate all my dinner. Last night my Dad had to put the leash on, to take me up the stairs to go to bed. I was so tired and slept soundly all night long. This morning I was very leery of the stairs so my Mom had to carry me down the stairs. We went outside early and helped mom weed the shade garden. I got a new toy, a "plastic bottle” which I promptly teased JR with. Which I heard is really JRs forte - "the teasing". I learned how to go out the doggy door by myself but, haven't yet mastered the getting in part. I am sending you a picture and a video, I hope you like it.

Balto
I just wanted to write and say hello and let you guys know about our news. A couple week’s ago Raven’s heart filled up with fluid again and Jon took her to the emergency vet. After they drained it again they realized the tumor had grown considerably and nothing more could be done. So we had to let her go. She did have a great last few weeks though and we were so thankful that we knew about her condition and had the time to say goodbye. It’s been really hard for all of us, especially Jon. Raven had been with him longer than Freya and I and she was also a huge part of our lives. I also wanted to write and tell you about what a comfort Balto has been to Jon. From the beginning it seems like even though we all love every one of them equally, the red dogs (Katie and Lucy) seemed to favor me and the gray dogs (Raven and Balto) seemed to favor Jon. Balto has helped Jon get through this time so much. He always seems to know when Jon is sad and gives him space, but he also knows when Jon can use some cheering up or just comfort in general. We have all loved him being a part of our family and we knew that he came to us for a reason (I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason). Only since Raven died did I realize just how much they all mean to us and also how special he is. We are all adjusting to Raven being gone, but I honestly don’t know how Jon would stay as positive as he is these days, if it were not for Balto being here.
