Yadkin County Humane Society often receives phone calls from individuals who have either lost or found an animal, and are wondering what to do. Please take a look at our suggestions below if you find yourself missing or having found an animal:
Email us with the date when, and area where the animal was lost/found. Please include a description of the animal with as much detail as possible (e.g. male/female, color, collar or tags, breed if known), and contact information for us to reach you if we have a lead. Give this information to Yadkin County Animal Control so they can direct owners looking for their companion animal to you as well - you can reach them at 336-677-2500.
There is a great online resource for reuniting lost animals in the Piedmont Area - check out www.lassiecomehomenc.org, scan through the lost animal listings and/or provide info to them for a found ad.
Provide the local veterinarians with the information about the pet you've lost/found - there are four veterinary offices in Yadkin County:
- Dr. Arnold - Harmony Heights - 336-679-8818
- Dr. Holt - Yadkinville Veterinary - 336-679-8832
- Dr. Robbins - Grandview Animal Hospital - 336-699-2230
- Dr. Schell - Timbercreek Veterinary - 336-526-6013
If you are able, stopping by one of the veterinarian's offices to have them run the microchip reader over a found dog/cat is a good idea and might lead you straight to an owner. This is particularly recommended if the animal is well groomed and wearing a collar.
There is an online resource for tracking the veterinary office that administered a particular rabies vaccination. If the animal you found has a rabies tag contact the vet, and have them notify the owner that you've found their pet.
