Do We Look Like Garbage to You?

Glad - lapping 2     Glad Gang - A    Glad - huddle after eating

We received a voicemail on February 10th on the lost/found queue from a family whose nephew discovered nine puppies in a plastic garbage bag on the side of the road in Yadkin County.  They were looking for assistance as these babies are so young that they are not eating solid food on their own yet.  After some discussion, two of our foster parents realized we had no other options to offer, and that if we didn't step up to the challenge and pull them into foster care, they wouldn't survive. Although we're weary from  caring for nine, our hearts have melted to these puppies.

In an effort to make lemonade out of the lemons dealt these puppies by being shoved into a trash bag to die, we've nicknamed them "The Glad Gang".  We think it fits -- we're glad they survived until a good samaritan found and rescued them, glad God is giving us the strength to care for them until they can be adopted, and boy are we glad the bottle feeding is over :)

Latest Update - 10/9/2008:

We received an email update and photos from Leigh Ann, who adopted a male puppy:

"Cassidy (his name is now Eli) is a very rambunctious pup, and I'm sure he is the alpha dog of the litter. He has a very strong personality. He loves water (can't keep him out of it), and he loves to play with other dogs. These pictures were taken at High Rock Lake this past weekend. He has grown to 75 pounds and is bigger than my other Lab mix, Maggie. He plays from the time he wakes up until he goes to bed. He loves to sleep with me in the bed, even as big as he is. He's a very healthy, happy puppy and I love having him. He's brought such joy to my life."
